Postpartum Period
The Postpartum Period Can Be Busy and Stressful for New Mothers with Crohn's Disease
The postpartum period will be busy and sometimes stressful as the woman adjusts to motherhood. In addition to finding the right medications, it’s important for a Crohn’s patient and her doctor to discuss family planning and birth control options. They should keep up the communication that they’ve established and it will serve them well as they manage this lifetime disease. Watch this MDTV Learning Module (5) to learn more.

Women with Crohn's Disease or IBD will face new challenges in the postpartum period as they adjust to new motherhood. It is critical that they continue communication with their doctor, both about their postpartum struggles, medication options, and future family planning. As with any chronic disease, maintaining the doctor-patient relationship is important to managing their lifelong disease.
