MDTV on Pregnancy and Lupus Neonatal Lupus What is the Risk of a Child Developing this Rare Condition
By MDTV
Neonatal Lupus is a rare and usually benign condition that can occur when the pregnant Lupus patient has certain antibodies. It is generally transient and not life-threatening, although there can be more serious manifestations of the disease. In those cases, there is a risk of a congenital heart block and the mother and medical team should consult a neonatalogist or possibly a pediatric cardiologist.
