In the postpartum period, a new mother faces many new challenges, but this can be a particularly trying time for women with Rheumatoid Arthritis. After possibly experiences a decrease in symptoms during pregnancy, often the disease will flare after devliery. This is a phenomenon that is refered to as the rebound effect. However, with support from her family and medical team as well as open communication with her rheumatologist about treatment options, a new mother with RA can cope with the challenges at hand.
