When it comes to pregnancy, not everything goes according to plan and surprises can happen. One mother with Rheumatoid Arthritis thought she was doing everything she could to prevent another pregnancy, but became pregnant. Her OB/GYN initially suggested she terminate the pregnancy because of the medications she was on, but her rheumatologist was supportive. Her relationship with her medical team was a key part of all of her pregnancies. In particular she thinks trust and communication between her, or any patient, and their rheumatologist is important, because they will be caring for them and their chronic disease for years to come.
