MDTV on Pregnancy and Rheumatoid Arthritis
Risks and Complications
While most pregnancies are successful in women with Rheumatoid Arthritis, or RA, their disease is associated with higher rates of complications. Where do rheumatologists and obstetricians turn for information? Watch this MDTV Learning Module (3) to learn more.

While most pregnancies are successful in women with Rheumatoid Arthritis, their disease is associated with higher rates of complications. These include premature delivery and lower birth weights. However, most risks associated with RA can be managed. Sometimes handling pregnancy can become a juggling act for rheumatologists and obstetricians who need to balance between controlling the disease and caring for the baby, but thankfully many women with Rheumatoid Arthritis see an improvement in symptoms during pregnancy which makes lessening treatment easier.
