Susan Stallings-Sahler, Ph.D., OTR/L, FAOTA of "Sensational Kids! Pediatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Center" in Marinez, GA, has over 30 years of experience with infants, children, and adolescents, in medical, educational, and community settings. Dr. Stallings-Sahler graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. degree in Occupational Therapy. She moved to Boston for her first job, and also obtained a Master's degree in pediatric OT from Boston University, where she studied with distinguished OT scholars such as Dr. Sharon Cermak, Dr. David Nelson, and Dr. Anne Henderson. Her master's thesis was a study on vestibular dysfunction and SI treatment in autism. In 1983-84, while an assistant professor in the graduate OT program at Rush University in Chicago, Susan took a part-time sabbatical to study with Dr. A. Jean Ayres, the founder of the sensory integration approach, worked in her clinic in southern California, and assisted Dr. Ayres in development of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests. In 1995, Susan completed her doctoral work in Educational Psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago and published a dissertation on maternal-child interaction and fine motor competency of cocaine-exposed infants. She studied both pediatric and infant NDT with Dr. Sarah Capelovitch of the European Bobath Tutors Association (EBTA).
